The Kite Rider by Geraldine McCaughrean
I just finished reading The Kite Rider, not to be confused with The Kite Runner or The Kite Chaser.
It’s an an adventure story about a young Chinese boy, Haoyou, and his struggles in the world. The beginning absolutely hooked me in. The plot just starts with the conflict and takes off running. There is little exposition, which worked very well. The book was well written. It slowed down more as we see more troubles arising for Haoyou. Before you know it, it seems like Haoyou’s problems are solved, but we know something is lingering in the background. The ending works out beautifully, and I was sitting on the edge of my seat until the very end.
This books earns five stars for originality and four out of five stars for delivery. It was enjoyable to the last page.
